Hire terms
Deposits, weather, what you need ready in the yard and who is watching the children. None of it is a surprise if you have already read the FAQ. It is here in one place so you can point at it later.
These terms apply to every hire from Bounce & Bloom Inflatables. Paying a deposit means you accept them. If something here does not suit your event, ring us before you pay rather than after.
We ask for a small deposit to hold your date. Until that lands, the date stays open to anyone else who asks, which is not us being difficult. We own a small number of units and it is the only fair way to run them.
Once the deposit is paid the date is yours and we will not offer it to anybody else. The remaining balance is due before or on the day of the hire, as agreed when you book.
The deposit comes off your total. It is not an extra charge.
The price we quote you includes delivery, setup and pack down within our standard service area, which covers the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redland and Tweed Heads. Anything further out may carry a small travel fee, and we tell you that before you pay, never afterwards.
Your booking is confirmed when we have both the deposit and the details we need, which are the date, the address, the surface the unit is going on, the access width and where the nearest power point is.
The deposit amount, accepted payment methods and account details are confirmed with your booking.
Life happens and we would rather move your date than lose you.
Refunds go back the way they came, usually within a few business days.
Notice periods and how the deposit is treated are confirmed with your booking.
This is the part people worry about most, so here it is in full.
Usually fine. The castle has a covered roof and stays safe when damp. We set up as planned and you keep a towel by the entry. A light shower is not a cancellation.
If heavy rain is set in for the day we ring you that morning, early, so you are never left guessing. You then choose between moving to another date at no cost or cancelling for a full refund, deposit included.
We will not set up. An inflatable is a large light structure and the real danger is one becoming airborne in a gust, which is why wind matters more than rain. If sustained wind is running at around 30km/h or above, or there is lightning or a storm warning affecting your area, the hire does not go ahead.
In that case you get a full refund including the deposit, or a free move to another date, whichever you prefer. There is no cancellation fee however close to the day it is.
If the weather turns dangerous during your hire, switch off the blower, get everybody off the unit and ring us. Safety comes before the party. A hire that has already been delivered and set up is generally not refunded for weather that arrives later in the day, but talk to us, because we are reasonable people.
The call on whether conditions are safe is ours, and it is not one we will negotiate on.
We turn up, install it and make it look like the photographs. For that to happen smoothly, a few things need to be true when we arrive. These are your responsibility as the hirer.
If we arrive and the space is not ready, we will wait a reasonable time and help where we can. If the hire genuinely cannot go ahead because of the site, we treat it as a cancellation on the day and talk the deposit through with you.
A standard hire runs 4 to 6 hours, with the exact delivery and pack down times agreed when you book. We arrive before your start time to set up, and we come back afterwards to take it all away. You are not assembling anything and you are not cleaning anything.
Somebody over 18 needs to be at the address for both delivery and pack down.
Overnight hires are possible in some cases and are arranged in advance, never on the day. If a unit stays overnight it must be left inflated only if we have agreed to that, and the yard must be secure.
The unit stays our property for the whole hire. It cannot be moved, deflated, relocated to another address or sub hired to anyone else. If it needs to move, ring us and we will move it.
Units are cleaned and inspected between every hire. If yours ever turns up looking less than it should, tell us and we will make it right.
A responsible adult must supervise the inflatable at all times while anyone is on it. Not from inside the kitchen. Watching it.
We set the unit up, safety check it, show you how the blower works and go through the rules before we leave. From that moment supervision is the hirer's responsibility, and it is the single biggest factor in nobody getting hurt.
Normal wear from a party full of children is expected and is not charged for. Grass stains, a bit of mud and general use are our problem, not yours.
What is not normal wear is your responsibility while the unit is in your care:
If something does happen, tell us honestly. We would far rather hear it from you at pack down than find it later.
Cleaning and damage charges are assessed case by case, based on what actually happened and what it costs us to put right. We will always talk you through it before anything is charged.
Jumping castles are enormous fun and, like anything children play on, they carry risk. Almost every injury we have ever heard of comes down to too many kids on at once, mixed ages, or nobody watching. Please read this bit properly.
We deliver the unit, install it, anchor it at every point the manufacturer specifies, and safety check it before we hand it over. On grass that means pegs into the ground, after checking for underground services. On concrete or pavers that means sandbag weights instead. The blower runs on a residual current device and is positioned away from where children will be playing. We walk you through how it all works before we leave.
Once we hand the unit over, supervision and enforcing the rules above are the hirer's responsibility for the whole hire. That means an adult present and watching, the rules enforced, and the blower switched off with everyone clear if conditions turn.
You also agree not to let anyone move, unpeg, unweight or deflate the unit.
Use of the inflatable is at the user's own risk. To the extent the law allows, Bounce & Bloom Inflatables is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from the use of a hired unit where that use was not properly supervised or where the safety rules above or the instructions given at handover were not followed.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing in it excuses us from our own obligations. If we set a unit up badly, that is on us.
We are also not responsible for damage to your lawn, irrigation, underground services we were not told about, or surfaces underneath the unit, so please tell us what is buried in the yard before we start pegging.
At handover we go through the unit with you and you sign our Bounce Castle & Event Hire Waiver and Release of Liability. It is short and it says roughly what this page says, in the language our insurer expects.
The waiver is the operative document for your hire. This page is here so you know what to expect before you get to the front door, not to replace it. Where the two differ, the signed waiver applies.
The person signing must be over 18 and must be the person responsible for the unit during the hire. If you would like to read the waiver before the day, ask us and we will send it through.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing on this page takes those away from you.
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia.
If you are unhappy with anything, ring us first. We are a small family business and we would much rather sort it out over the phone than have it go anywhere else.
Questions about these terms go to bounceandbloominflatables@gmail.com or 0452 464 454. How we handle your personal details is set out on our privacy page.
